Thank You for an Unforgettable Year!

It has been my privilege to serve as Attorneys Serving the Community’s Lead Chair for the last year. A year ago, Devon Sharp and I issued a call to action – we asked all of you to help us raise $400,000 (net) to support four initiatives at Crossroads Community Services. At the time, we knew that $400,000 would be a “stretch goal.” ASC has never netted more than $370,000, and that luncheon had a Presenting Sponsor who donated $40,000 and a $40,000 “day of” match. Additionally, over the last several years, inflation has significantly increased the “standard costs” for our events. Despite these obstacles (and perhaps because I am also a little crazy), we decided to shout $400,000 out into the Universe.
Today, I am thrilled, humbled, and honored to tell you that we did it! We are still reconciling the last little bit of membership revenue, but we are confident that our net revenue for Crossroads Community Services will exceed $402,000!!!
It would be easy for me to take credit for this incredible achievement. My mother loves to tell everyone that I used to shake down couch cushions as a child, looking for spare change. Apparently, I was shameless enough to do this at other people’s homes, doctors’ offices, and even the bank. But the truth is—Devon and I have all of YOU to thank for helping us reach our insane goal.
When we asked our incredible Committee Co-Chairs to decrease our costs, they rolled up their sleeves and did it. When we asked you to “step up” your membership levels, you did. When we asked your firms to support two events instead of just one, you made it happen. When we asked your companies to increase their Luncheon sponsorship levels, you supported it. CCS will open its Nutrition Pharmacy, Culinary Teaching Kitchen, and Children’s Play Market because of you.
I cannot say thank you enough to everyone who participated this year. Thank you for answering our call to action. Thank you for volunteering your time. Thank you for donating your talents. Thank you for opening your pocket books. Thank you for going on this adventure with me. Please support Devon Sharp and Debrán O’Neil as they embark on a brand new adventure tonight. Let’s create more magic together.

Attorneys Serving the Community is a dynamic volunteer organization of more than 475 women lawyers, judges, law students, and legal industry service professionals with JDs in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. For over 35 years, ASC has raised money for local non-profit organizations that benefit women, children, and/or families. ASC is proud to have raised more than $5 million for DFW non-profits since 2015.
