ASC’s success would not be possible without the hard work of our many committee members. ASC’s committees organize our fundraising events, develop our membership, and publicize our events. Fall Bazaar and Holiday Market

The Fall Bazaar and Holiday Market Committee manages ASC’s newest event, which typically takes place in early November. The committee coordinates the location of the event, promotes the event, secures sponsors, and facilitates set-up and other needs on the day of the event.

5K Committee

The 5K Committee organizes all facets of the Heart & Sole 5K/Fun Run, which typically takes place in mid-February. The committee coordinates the location of the event, promotes the event, secures sponsors, organizes corporate teams, and facilitates set-up and other needs on the day of the event.

The 5K Committee is looking for energetic members who can assist with promoting the event through rack card distribution at local races, stuffing goody bags, and securing both corporate sponsors and in-kind donors for food, beverages, and entertainment.

Silent Auction Committee

The Silent Auction Committee is responsible for handling all aspects of the ASC Silent Auction, which typically takes place in April. This includes coordinating the location of the event and all food and drinks; design of the online invitation; solicitation of silent auction items from corporate partners; coordinating with ASC membership and the Beneficiary to obtain silent auction items; and overseeing day-of activities (including collecting all silent auction items, preparing the items for day-of bidding; and facilitating the sale and disbursement of items to winning bidders).

Networking Committee

The Networking Committee is responsible for all aspects of ASC’s events that allow members to facilitate connections within the legal community. This includes coordinating the location of each event and all food and drinks; securing event sponsors; creating and sending the event invitation to all members; coordinating with the Communications Committee to publicize the event; and coordinating with the Membership Committee to ensure that attendees are active members (when appropriate).

This committee is seeking members who can assist in securing networking event sponsors and/or organizing at least one of the networking events. ASC typically sponsors three networking events each year: a fashion show in the downtown Dallas area in September or October; a professional development seminar in January; and a CLE seminar in March.

Luncheon Arrangements Committee

The Luncheon Arrangements Committee is responsible for all facets of organizing the yearly Luncheon, including: securing the hotel and the audio/visual service provider; selecting the Luncheon menu; creating the Luncheon PowerPoint slides to recognize our sponsors and members; soliciting and supervising volunteers for setup the night before and day of the Luncheon; coordinating the pre-Luncheon VIP Reception; managing all set-up, registration, and any book-signing details; securing necessary signage; and coordinating with the Beneficiary to provide donation envelopes for the tables and to collect all envelopes from the tables post-Luncheon.

This committee also assists the ASC Co-Chairs in designing the Luncheon invitation and program; updating the invitation list, using underwriting target lists, Beneficiary contacts, and a list from the State Bar of Texas of all women lawyers licensed in Dallas, Collin, and Denton Counties; arranging the logistics of the invitation; coordinating with the other ASC committees to collect and insert content for the Luncheon programs; and arranging the printing and delivery of the programs for the Luncheon.

This committee is seeking energetic members who can assist with Luncheon planning (which usually kicks off in January) and members who can commit time the night before and day of the Luncheon to assist in all aspects of producing the Luncheon. The committee is also seeking members who have a creative streak to assist in developing the design concept for the invitation/program and members who are detail-oriented to assist in proofreading the invitation/program.

Communications Committee

The Communications Committee is responsible for coordinating with ASC’s web designer to update content on ASC’s webpage; coordinating all aspects of the publicity for ASC’s public events, including developing content for ASC’s external publicity firm, negotiating with advertising companies (e.g., D CEO and Texas Lawyer) to secure in-kind donation of advertising space, and designing advertising within required specifications; and managing all social media, including ASC’s Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Twitter profiles.

This committee is seeking members who can coordinate with the other ASC committees on a monthly basis and members who are adept in social media outreach.

Meeting Arrangements Committee

The Meeting Arrangements Committee is responsible for finding hosts for the ASC monthly planning meetings, working with the hosts or other vendor sponsors to provide lunch for the meetings, and preparing and sending a meeting invitation to all members.

This committee is seeking members who can secure law firm conference room space and lunch sponsors for our planning meetings in advance. Attendance at each meeting is encouraged, but not required.

Membership Committee

The Membership Committee is responsible for all administration relating to ASC members, including: tracking the membership status of all ASC members; collecting all membership forms and dues; promoting ASC to new members; maintaining and updating all membership-related forms; coordinating with the Beneficiary regarding ASC membership lists and/or dues; and working with the Invitations and Programs committees to provide updated ASC membership lists for all published materials.

This committee is seeking energetic members who can help promote ASC among women lawyers to increase our membership and members who are detail-oriented to assist with proofreading the Luncheon invitations and programs.

Speaker Committee

The Speaker Committee is responsible for managing all the details related to the Luncheon’s speaker, from start to finish. This includes working with the Beneficiary and a speakers bureau to identify potential speakers; negotiating and finalizing the speaker contract; providing support for the chosen speaker both pre-Luncheon and on the day of the Luncheon, including coordinating calls with the speaker, creating the speaker’s schedule, arranging all transportation for the speaker, providing any special requests of the speaker, and escorting the speaker on the day of the Luncheon.

This committee is seeking members who appreciate the nuances in selecting a great luncheon speaker.

Charity Selection Committee

The Charity Selection Committee, led by the outgoing ASC Lead Chair, is responsible for soliciting and reviewing all Beneficiary applications for the upcoming year; selecting which applicants will receive onsite visits; conducting onsite visits with selected charities; determining which charities will present to the ASC membership at the Charity Selection Meeting; and helping facilitate the Charity Selection Meeting, which typically occurs in July.
